Генеральный директор Barclays (BCS) Джес Стейли покидает банк после расследования британскими властями его отношений с ныне покойным сексуальным преступником Джеффри Эпштейном, объявил банк в понедельник.
Неопубликованные результаты отчета британского Управления по финансовому поведению и Управления пруденциального регулирования были предоставлены банку в пятницу. В свете этих выводов, а также намерения Стейли оспорить их, банк достиг соглашения со Стейли о его немедленном уходе, сообщает Reuters.
«Следует отметить, что следствие не делает выводов о том, что г-н Стейли видел или знал о каких-либо предполагаемых преступлениях г-на Эпштейна, что было главным вопросом, лежащим в основе поддержки г-на Стейли со стороны Barclays после ареста г-на Эпштейна летом 2019 года», — отметили в банке.
Дружба между Стейли и Эпштейном, финансистом с большими связями, началась по меньшей мере в 1999 году, когда Стейли возглавлял отдел частных банковских услуг в JPMorgan, сообщает New York Times.
